The US is massing troops in Puerto Rico and naval forces across the shores of Venezuela. The worlds biggest bully, Donald Trump, has declared Venezuelan airspace closed (not sure if he understands what it takes). This is seen as aggressive moves in preparation for war.
It is not about drugs or democracy as you have been told. Both lies were used before to justify US invasion of other sovereign nations.

But it is much simpler than that. It is about oil, as Venezuela sits on the worlds largest oil reserve.
The US finds itself in dire need to secure oil resources closer to its home base than the Middle East. As China continues to consume more of the precious resource, it is taking an ever increasing share of the global oil supplies as its economy continues to grow larger.
Despite the US having a master and vassal-like relation with UAE and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the access to these oil resources have been proven to be impossible to defend recently.
The rise of the Houthis in Yemen as a regional actors, and their latest skirmishes in 2025 against the US naval forces—including at least three US aircraft carriers which ended in a truce near the southern entrance of the Red Sea—has effectively shown how easy it is for any regional actor with modern technological know-how to effectively cut off the most direct route to the US. Furthermore, the introduction of drones as a weapon to attack tankers is something no one has an answer for yet; drones are very light, small, and agile compared to the stately, but less agile, large tankers. Such attacks have proven to be almost impossible to thwart. The drones’ attack range has also increased, which threatens the shipping lanes along the coast of Yemen and Oman and north along the Arabian sea to the straight of Hurmuz at the entrance of the Persian Gulf and beyond. This cuts off the US from the oil resources it has been exploiting from the Middle East.
So in order to keep it’s military industrial machine going the United States needs to secure more of the black gold which Venezuela, like Iraq and Libya before, is (guilty) of having.
No need to over read into the Noble-prize-winner-said-to-be-future-CIA-puppet in Venezuela. But Maria Corina Machado announced that once the US helps her overthrow the current Venezuelan president, she will open the Venezuelan reserves to foreign investors, giving the US companies an advantage. This, too, has happened before.
America’s soft power and trustability is at an all-time low. The Trump administration has alienated allies and lost their trust before its adversaries. It is unable to deliver on its so-called peace plan in Gaza and reneged on its support to Ukraine, leaving Europe fending for itself.
The latest round of fighting between Iran versus the US and Israel showed that the US is incapable of keeping its word. Trump bragged about his role in deceiving the Iranian regime prior to striking Iran’s nuclear plants. All these elements support that a resistance to the American invasion to the US will be large and significant around the globe and in the Americas as well
In south America, many people are wary of “el gringo”, and factions from neighbouring countries will flock to Venezuela to defend their neighbors. In Colombia there is abundance of weapons and jungle-hardened fighters that are more than willing to defend South America against the invading Americans. President Lula of Brazil will not go along with the American invasion, and if Brazil does not get involved officially, the borders will be left unchecked for any support going into Venezuela. In short, the Americans will never be able to set up shop in Venezuela.
I don’t know when the bombs will start dropping, but I know when they do lots of teachers and journalists, nurses and doctors, women and children will die. Millions of dollars will be spent to kill them in order to remove an obstacle that stands in the way of the American Empire’s insatiable need to consume more oil. And just like the crimes of Iraq and Afghanistan and the occupation of Palestine go unpunished, this will go unpunished.
I do not fear the unknown for I live in a world where the likes of the US and Israel exist. And many nations like Canada, UK, and Germany are completely subservient to them.
